The Zaanse Schans is a neighborhood with wooden buildings in the Zaanstad municipality. It’s located along the river Zaan, across from the village Zaandijk, and next to the Julianabrug. It’s a famous tourist destination, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year (1.8 million in 2016, 2.2 million in 2017). It was set up with the intention of preserving the historical heritage, but it’s not a closed, open-air museum. The houses are inhabited, so it's not just tourists visiting the area.
Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is known for its artistic heritage, extensive canal network, and narrow gable houses, a legacy from the Golden Age. In the Museumkwartier, you’ll find the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, with works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, and the Stedelijk Museum, which houses contemporary art. Cycling is inextricably linked to the city’s character and there are many cycling paths.
You can bike around the area and even to the Amsterdam forest (Amsterdamse bos) which is only 15 minutes away. You can rent a bike at the hotel for € 12.50 per day.
Keukenhof is the most beautiful spring park in the world! Over seven million tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths provide 31 hectares of fragrance and color for eight weeks. The park also offers thirty floral shows that change weekly, seven inspiration gardens, hundreds of artworks, a beautiful windmill, and a play area. Opened from the second half of March until the first half May.
There’s plenty to do in Haarlem, all year round. Discover the city that’s known for its high-quality cultural offerings, great diversity of shops, cozy restaurants and cafes, and excellent location near Amsterdam, beach and sea. Also known as Amsterdam Beach, Zandvoort has over 30 beach clubs with full service restaurants that are open during the ‘summer season’ in the period from March through October (outside the ‘summer season’ there are 5 beach clubs open). Furthermore, it’s the only beach town in the Netherlands with a train station, it goes directly to Haarlem and Amsterdam. The city center has many shops and restaurants. Walk on the beach and enjoy Kibbeling (Deep-fried codfish) as a traditional Dutch snack from one of the 10 “mobile restaurants” that drive on the beach and boulevard.
